The legend regarding the attribution of the name is curious: it is said that in Roman times Hannibal, during the second Punic war, arrived on Italian soil through the Colle delle Traversette. Arriving in the Po Valley, observing the plain before his eyes and intrigued by the "wavy" mountain, Mombracco, with his arm outstretched indicated to his men the way to follow exclaiming "Ecce viae", and so the village located at the foot of the mountain was called "Enviis".
Today the territory is characterized in its flat area, by the cultivation of corn and other cereals, the hilly area is instead the kingdom of orchards.
The parish church of the capital, dedicated to San Marcellino, dates back to the second half of the 18th century and is in Baroque style. In some documents there is news of the presence of a previous church from the 13th century of which the Romanesque bell tower is still visible, and on the top of which are painted two coats of arms of the Cacherano family, former lords of Envie. Just one hour from Turin and 20 minutes from Pian della Regina, where we find the mouth of the Po River, directly on Monviso.
